Universitas Negeri Manado Located on the expanse of Lake Tondano, in the cool air of Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi. Founded on September 22, 1955, it changed to the State Institute of Teacher Training and Education in Manado or IKIP Negeri Manado in 1965. In 2000, it was converted to Universitas Negeri Manado (UNIMA). Universitas Negeri Manado, under the leadership of Rector Professor Deitje Adolfien Katuuk, M.Pd., carries out the ideals outlined in its Vision and Mission of Excellence and Innovation based on Mapalus. Mapalus is a local wisdom that means cooperation and working together.

Currently, University of Manado has 2 campuses, namely campus 1 in Tondano, located within the area of 309 hectares, and campus 2 in Tomohon, located within the area of 2.74 hectares. UNIMA fosters 7 faculties, namely the Faculties of Engineering, Social Sciences, Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Educational Sciences, Languages and Arts, Sports Sciences, and Economics & Business; with 1 Postgraduate Program and 1 Teacher Professional Education Program (PPG), totally covering 64 study programs with 730 lecturers, 318 education staff, and 18072 students.

University of Manado, in implementing the Tridharma of Higher Education, continuously improves the relevance and the quality of its curriculum, organizes its learning through the Learning Management System, and consistently implements the Kampus Merdeka, a campus independent learning program. UNIMA’s performance in the field of research and community service shows that there is a continuous increase in research productivity, commercial potentials in publications, copyrights, and patents that further improve the performance of the Tridharma of Higher Education. In line with this, UNIMA’s collaboration with various institutions and partners, both domestic and foreign universities, the business world and industry, government and non-government institutions, has shown a significant improvement. In implementing the Tridharma, UNIMA is supported by facilities and infrastructure that meet quality adequacy standards. Main infrastructure facilities are available, namely lecture buildings, integrated laboratories, workshops, printing house, the largest auditorium in North Sulawesi, joint lecture buildings, sports stadiums, tennis courts, swimming pools, fitness centers, a computer center and a command center, as well as 13 dormitory buildings with the capacity of 2800 people and a hotel with a room capacity of 450 people. In the course of 66 years of implementing the Tridharma of Higher Education, University of Manado is recognized as a B-accredited tertiary institution by BAN-PT, awarded for managing state-owned property in the field of state property administration, and in 202, UNIMA received two awards from the Ministry of Education, Culture and Technology in the fields of cooperation data management and cooperation report management.

In the field of student affairs, UNIMA students have made achievements both in the national and international levels and are actively participating in various student creativity programs in the National Student Science Week or PIMNAS. Based on the SWOT analysis, University of Manado has determined a position relative to its environment and established a strategic plan with 3 advantages, namely Excellence in Teaching & Learning, Excellence in Research and Development, and Excellence in Innovation and Collaboration as the efforts to accelerate its independence and reputation.
