Zhejiang Normal University(ZJNU), founded in 1956, is one of the five key universities in Zhejiang Province, and one of the top 100 universities in China. According to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2023, ZJNU ranks NO.1 among Zhejiang provincial universities, ranks between 25-34 in China, ranks 89 in Asia, and ranks between 501-600 in the world. There are more than 3000 international students studying at ZJNU from over 150 countries around the world.
Mathematics, Chemistry, Engineering, Materialogy, Computer Science and Environment/Ecology, Plant &Animal Science are the seven top 1% disciplines in the world according to the ESI(Essential Science Index) global ranking. ZJNU is the only public university that has been selected as one of the "Top 10 Foreign Cooperation Units in Zhejiang Province". In 2019, it became the only university in China that has been awarded the title of Advanced Chinese Cooperation Institution of Confucius Institutes for 5 consecutive years. In 2020, it was selected as the Zhejiang International Cultural Exchange Base and was one of the first batch of "Zhejiang Internationalized Characteristic Universities".
